Over the weekend I was at my uncle's place in Ikeja welcoming his newly wedded wife in our traditional manner. I was shocked with what this new wife spitted out of her mouth when she was asked to give a little speech. Nevertheless she was not shy at all unlike girls of her age. She just stood up and started with the speech; My dear family members, I thank you all for welcoming me into my new home and family. Firstly, she said. With my presence, I would not want to create any inconveniences by my being here. I mean that I don’t want you all to change your way of life, your routine. What do you mean by that my daughter? My uncle's mother asked. She said; What I mean is, those who used to wash plates must carry on washing them. Those who used to wash my husband clothes must carry on washing them. Those who cook should not stop on my account. Those who used to clean, should continue cleaning. As for me, I am here just to control your son.
